“There is a creative fraction of a second when you are taking a picture. Your eye must see a composition or an expression that life itself offers you, and you must know with intuition when to click the camera. That is the moment the photographer is creative. The Moment! Once you miss it, it is gone forever.”

this is a very tender moment of a bride dancing with her brother on her wedding day. poised to dance hand in hand, i witnessed the gigantic emotional wave roll in as the music from ray charles began. the weight of their late father’s absence and yet presence in spirit has just come down upon them. their feet now shuffling memories out of the grass as they dance.
…more of this event to come. (thanks for watching)

classic. the bond of brothers, as the younger pulls off the face of the patient older brother.
(series like these show the beauty and incredible tool the camera has above the other arts.)

you say goodbye, and i say hello.
goodbye to 2009 and hello to a gazillion incredible moments recorded on film. with this collection i wanted to shy away from the typical poster shots and focus more on the genuine moments, the honesty, the love, the quirkiness and human comedy, the beauty, the places, the stories…all from 2009.
i tried to not be repetitive nor redundant in which images made this collection, therefore not all my favorite images of 2009 were included in this post because they have most likely already been featured previously.
(and of course you are more than welcome to stick around and look at the other posts that i have done throughout the year…just keep in mind the majority of ’09’s postings are found on my older blog http://www.dustontodd.blogspot.com)
many thanks to you all.
2009 was incredible because of you.
…and looking forward to making new friends and memories with you of 2010!
this is a snippet clip taken from a 15 minute video all shot on 8mm. the couple flew me down to TX to shoot their gorgeous wedding using this gorgeous stuff called 8mm film…and with results like this, i would gladly do it again.

this post was in all good humor. if it offends anyone in any way, shape, or form i will be swift to remove it from the blog… and if no one takes the offensive – then i thank you for being open minded to humor and my quirkiness, after all we all are a human comedy and need to laugh at ourselves.
